The 2017 UFFA World Cup will be the 18th UFFA World Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament contested by the men's national teams of the member associations of UFFA. It is scheduled to take place in Okaiken and Kwangju from 14 June to 15 July 2017, after both countries were awarded the hosting rights on 2 December 2013. This will be the first World Cup ever held in two countries, and the first held in Eastern Althena since 2005.

The final tournament will involve 32 national teams, which include 31 teams determined through qualifying competitions and the automatically qualified host team. A total of 64 matches will be played in 20 venues located in 20 cities. The final will take place on 15 July in Okami at the Olympic Stadium.

Host selection[edit | edit source]

The bidding procedure to host the 2018 UFFA World Cups began in January 2012, and national associations had until 2 February 2012 to register their interest. Initially, six countries placed bids for the 2017 UFFA World Cup, but Jacala later withdrew from proceedings, and Paledang's bid was rejected by UFFA in February 2013 after the Paledang government failed to submit a letter to support the bid. During the bidding process, the two remaining non-WAFA nations gradually withdrew from the 2018 bids. The only remaining bids were the two EAFA members: Kwangju and Okaiken.

The twenty-two-member UFFA convened in Insulo on 2 December 2013 to vote to select the hosts of both tournaments. On the first round of balloting, the two nations ended up with a tie, so a decision is made by the federation to combine the two bids. Both Kwangju and Okaiken won the right to be the 2017 hosts in the second round of voting. The voting results were as follows:

Round 1 Round 2
Okaiken 11
Kwangju 11

Mascots[edit | edit source]

The official mascots of the 2017 UFFA World Cup were unveiled on 6 March 2017 after delays from the animation company Hikosen. The Okaiken mascot Keiji, represents Sanese wildlife and spirit and is designed as a red fox (vulpes vulpes), a venerable animal in Okaiken. The Kwangju mascot, Soji, represents Kwangju tenacity and is designed as an Amur tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) According to their fictional backgrounds, the mascots "were both born from the joy of East Althena after it was announced that both Kwangju and Okaiken would host the tournament. The mascots were intended to reflect the diversity of Kwangju's and Okaiken's culture. The names of the mascots were determined by a public vote whose results were announced on 14 January 2017, tallying 44 percent of 323,327 votes.

Official Songs[edit | edit source]

Four official songs for the 2017 World Cup were selected by the committee on December 2016. In Okaiken, two songs from the popular band EXILE were chosen: "Victory" and "Survivors". "Victory" was performed by the main group with percussions done by the percussion symphony Freshsounds from Okaiken, and is sung in both Trent and Sanese. The other official song in Okaiken, "Survivors", was performed by EXILE's subunit EXILE THE SECOND, and is sung in Sanese only. In Kwangju, another two official songs are chosen for the tournament: BTS's "Blood, Sweat and Tears" and NCT Dream's "Trigger the Fever".
